REI and KEEN call for permanent funding for Land and Water Conservation Fund

“Critical conservation program needs lawmakers’ help”

In a recent opinion article published in the Oregonian, government and community affairs managers from from REI and KEEN Footwear thank Sen.s Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley for championing a bill that would permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and express their commitment to promoting the approval of permanent funding for the Fund.

“It’s likely that nearly every Oregonian has stepped foot on public lands protected by the conservation fund at some point in their lives […] Unfortunately, Congress has repeatedly broken its commitment to the American people by diverting at least half of the money to uses other than public lands conservation and recreation. Because of that, there is a long backlog of projects awaiting funding”
