August 15, 2019, the Oregon Conservation Partnership (OrCP) presents:

“401 Water Quality Certifications for Restoration”

Register Now!

401 Water Quality Certification is one part of the permitting process for projects that require in-water work. Restoration work often requires this kind certification prior to construction. In-water work includes dam removals, stream relocations, and placing materials in streams and/or wetlands. This webinar will discuss when a 401 WQC is required, and why certification is important in Oregon. We will discuss steps to certification, including fees and land use requirements.

About the presenter: Sara Christensen currently serves as the statewide 401 water quality certification coordinator for the Oregon DEQ. Prior to this, Sara worked for the Indiana State Department of Agriculture as the Water Quality Coordinator. As part of this position, Sara represented agriculture on the Invasive Species Council and the Water Quality Monitoring Council, and served on the National Gulf Hypoxia Taskforce for Indiana. Sara has also worked for Indiana’s 401 water quality certification program after spending time as a wetland consultant. Sara has a MS in Geology from Indiana University.

Recordings of previous webinars (e.g. “Your OWEB Grant from Start to Finish,” “Riparian Restoration Monitoring for Salmonid Recovery within a Multiple Use Management Context”) are available on the OrCP “Webinars” page.
