Session Title:  Oregon DEQ Drinking Water Providers Partnership

Session Presenters:
Julie Harvey is a registered geologist with over 30 years of experience in environmental assessment and protection. She is currently the Drinking Water Protection Coordinator with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality where she focuses on assisting public water system officials, local government officials, State/Federal agencies, and interested communities to develop local strategies for protecting their drinking water. Prior to joining the drinking water team, she spent 10 years completing environmental assessments and remedial actions at industrial and commercial sites for an environmental engineering and consulting firm.

We will also feature a panel of current member organizations who currently partner on DEQ projects, including:

Jon Souder, Assistant Professor, Oregon State University Extension Service Assistant Professor with Oregon State University Extension Service works under contract to OSU from the Coos SWCD to prepare a Drinking Water Protection Plan for the City of Myrtle Point;

Michelle Smith is the Water Project Manager for The Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts (COLT) where she supports land trusts working to protect Oregon’s source drinking watersheds.

Session Description:
This webinar will provide an overview of DEQ grant opportunities for projects that have a federal nexus and address environmental conservation and restoration projects in community/municipal drinking water source areas. This is a great opportunity for councils, districts, and land trusts to work with our federal partners and public water systems on projects that are mutually beneficial.
